Dear Couple,

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! A church wedding is not only a beautiful celebration of love, but also a sacred covenant made before God, family, and friends. To help you prepare well, it is important to be aware of the key steps and processes involved.

As you journey toward your big day, here are some matters to take note of:

Inform Church Office – Please inform the church office of your intention to get married at least 8 months in advance or as soon as you have locked down your date. This is for us to work out any clashes of church event dates with your wedding, as well as to guide you along in this wedding preparation process.

Marriage Preparation Course – We require couples to attend a premarital counselling or marriage preparation course. This will help you build a strong foundation for your marriage by exploring topics such as communication, finances, conflict resolution, spiritual growth and others. Upon informing Church office of your intent to get married, we will discuss with you and allocate a couple marriage counsellor to help prepare you. The pre-marital counselling have at least 8-10 sessions in total, covering biblical theology, practical aspects and parenting.

Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis – We encourage couples to take the online Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (TJTA) test before marriage as a valuable tool for building a stronger relationship. The TJTA test provides insights into each partner's temperament traits, helping couples understand themselves and each other better.

Meeting with the Pastor – You will meet with the officiating pastor to share your faith journey, discuss your wedding plans, and ensure that both of you understand the biblical meaning of marriage and are ready for the Solemnization. Currently in TPBC, only Pastor Jacob and Pastor Henry Ng are license Solemnizers. If you intent to engage another Solemnizer from outside, please let the Church Office know.

Legal Registration – A church wedding in Singapore must also comply with the Registry of Marriages (ROM) requirements. You will need to file a notice of marriage, appoint your solemniser, and complete all necessary paperwork within the stipulated timeframe. Pastor Jacob or Pastor Henry will guide you through the process.

HDB – For couples applying for HDB flats, you can get a letter of intent to get married from Pastor Jacob and this will be accepted by HDB. You DO NOT NEED to get ROM to produce the marriage certificate for HDB.

Church Solemnization – We will only solemnize couples of the same faith in TPBC (both must be baptised believer in the Lord).

Church Blessing – For couples who have ROM already (for some reasons), and would like a church blessing, you can discuss this with Pastor Jacob. We will only conduct Church Blessing if you have not consummated your marriage. We encourage all couples who like to be Solemnized in Church, not to register your marriage in ROM prior to it.

Rehearsal & Ceremony Details – Closer to the wedding date, there will be a rehearsal to run through the order of service, roles of the bridal party, and flow of the ceremony. This ensures that everything proceeds smoothly on the day itself.

Spiritual Preparation – Beyond logistics, couples are encouraged to prepare their hearts through prayer, devotion, and reflection. Your wedding day is not only about the celebration but also the beginning of a lifelong covenant before God.
